● On November 6, the Trusted Data Innovation Alliance for the Mineral Resources Industry was established. ●On September 9, Li Lecheng, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, pointed out at a series of press conferences on "High-Quality Completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan" held by the State Council Information Office that the comprehensive energy consumption per unit of product such as steel and cement clinker has generally reached the world's advanced level, breakthroughs have been achieved in the application of hydrogen energy in industries such as steel and petrochemicals, and the entire process of million-ton-level hydrogen metallurgy and 300,000-ton-level green synthetic ammonia has been successfully implemented.

● On August 7th, He Wenbo, Executive Chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), stated in his address at the 14th China International Steel Conference: “The steel industry, in any country, is a pillar of economic development and a foundation of national operation. ● On May 23rd, Xia Nong, Vice President of CISA, pointed out at the 2025 On-site Meeting on the Collaborative Development Experience of the Steel Structure Building Industry Chain that my country's steel structure building industry is gradually transitioning from development primarily driven by “policy guidance” to a new development stage driven by both “policy guidance” and “market forces.” A clear trend in this new stage of development is the significant decrease in construction costs for steel structure buildings, their markedly enhanced market competitiveness, and their increasing popularity among consumers.

● On August 7th, at the 14th China International Steel Conference, Gan Yong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, stated regarding electric arc furnace (EAF) technology that it can reduce carbon emissions by nearly three-quarters compared to traditional processes, demonstrating a clear advantage. However, currently, high scrap steel prices and electricity prices result in excessively high operating costs for EAFs, leading to a "whoever uses an EAF loses money" dilemma. The development of EAFs requires waiting for a certain amount of scrap steel to accumulate in my country.

● On August 7th, Edwin Basson, Director General of the World Steel Association, stated in an interview with the *China Metallurgical News*: “China’s leading steel companies are demonstrating impressive prudence and responsibility in promoting low-carbon transformation. ● On August 10th, at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Rebar Industry Alliance and the International Conference on the Transformation and Development of the Construction Steel Industry, Li Yiren, Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Association, stated that the recent Central Urban Work Conference identified promoting urban renewal as a crucial aspect of urban work for the present and future. The State Council Executive Meeting also clearly incorporated the construction of “good housing” into the urban renewal mechanism. Construction steel, especially rebar, should become an important carrier for the construction of “good housing.”

●On September 11-12, Wang Yingsheng, Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Association, stated at the Steel Industry Statistics Work Conference and the Re-election Meeting of the Statistics and Information Work Committee that accurate production data is the "regulator" of supply and demand balance, timely cost data is the "compass" for enterprises to reduce costs and increase efficiency, and comprehensive technical indicator data is the "weathervane" for industry transformation and upgrading. Only by firmly grasping "data" as the core production factor can the industry see the trends clearly, find the right direction, and firmly grasp the initiative for development in a complex environment.

● On October 17th, Academician Yin Ruiyu of the Chinese Academy of Engineering pointed out at a symposium on "laminar flow" operation and specialized production technology in steel manufacturing processes: "Reduction and low carbon emissions are the future development trends of the steel industry. Although challenging, they are unavoidable. Enterprises must take a long-term perspective and actively respond to this trend. The intelligentization of steel manufacturing processes must be achieved through coordinated efforts from both the process and information sides to achieve optimal results."

● On October 28th, Tang Zujun, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Association, stated at the symposium on the economic operation of some steel enterprises in the third quarter of 2025: "Changes in market demand, persistently high costs, and declining profits have made survival an imminent challenge for many enterprises; while the era of green and low-carbon development, intelligent manufacturing, and technological innovation has made development an unavoidable long-term issue. ● January 1st: Xinyu Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Xinyu Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., planned to acquire a 51% stake in Xinyu Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. through a public bidding process. The listed transfer price was 151 million yuan.

● February 8th: China Salt Lake Industry Group Co., Ltd. was officially established. ● On September 16, Baosteel Co., Ltd. invested RMB 3.085 billion in cash to increase the capital of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Baosteel Pipe Industry. Baosteel Pipe Industry then established Baosteel Steel Pipe (Ma'anshan) Technology Co., Ltd. with the same RMB 3.085 billion in cash, and implemented the first phase of the Baosteel Seamless Steel Pipe Premium Base Project. The total investment for the project is RMB 4.96 billion (including tax).

● On September 20, the 1.2 million tons/year beneficiation plant of the Karqiaer Fluorite Mine in Ruoqiang, Xinjiang, designed and constructed by China Minmetals, became operational. This plant is the largest single fluorite mine in Asia.

● On October 8, at the 50th anniversary celebration of Shagang Group, the group outlined a new blueprint and implemented the "136" strategy. ● In early March, Rongcheng New Energy's first batch of 100 200 kW hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks rolled off the production line. This is the first batch of 200 kW hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty trucks to be mass-produced in China.

● On December 19th, the Wugang Cultural Tourism Area in Qingshan District, Wuhan City, was designated a National 4A-level tourist attraction. This makes it the seventh steel company to achieve this designation, following Delong Steel, Shaanxi Steel Longgang, Fangda Special Steel, Fujian Sansteel, Baowu Meigang, and Baosteel (Baoshan Base).

● On December 20th, the world's first commercially available supercritical carbon dioxide generator unit, "Super Carbon No. 1," began commercial operation at Shougang Shuigang.

● On February 11, the world's widest 5350mm steel plate was successfully rolled at the Zhoukou base of Henan Iron and Steel Group, achieving its first shipment. This marks Henan Iron and Steel as one of the few steel companies both domestically and internationally with the capacity to produce and supply 5-meter-wide and thick plates.

● On February 19, it was announced that a 20,000-ton transshipment barge ("MINRES ROSILY") using Hunan Iron and Steel Group's Xianggang ultra-high-strength wear-resistant ship plate AB/AQ98 was signed and delivered, marking the first application of this ship plate in China.

● On March 27, the Innovation Studio Alliance between Ansteel Group Benxi Steel and BMW Brilliance Automotive was officially established.

● At 17:17 on April 24, the Long March 2F Y20 carrier rocket, carrying the Shenzhou-20 manned spacecraft, was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. Daye Special Steel provided key material support for the launch.

● On May 1st, the final assembly of the world's first compact fusion energy experimental device (BEST) commenced. my country's first CHSN01 ultra-low temperature high-strength and high-toughness non-magnetic steel, developed by the Iron & Steel Research Institute and other institutions, was embedded in the device's core superconducting magnet system.

● On May 13th, Ansteel Co., Ltd. won the bid for China's first supercritical carbon dioxide transportation project—the Jilin Oilfield carbon dioxide pipeline project—supplying over 6,000 tons of L450M grade hot-rolled coils for supercritical carbon dioxide transportation.

● On May 15th, Ansteel Co., Ltd. exclusively won the bid for the steel supply rights for the Qinglongmen Bridge, the world's largest span three-tower steel box girder cable-stayed bridge.

● On June 11th, Li Auto, together with Maanshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. and Tsinghua University, held a ceremony at Li Auto's Beijing R&D headquarters to mark the production of the first coil of high-strength, high-toughness, and hydrogen-embrittle-resistant 2000 MPa grade hot-formed steel—2000IH.

● July 23: A ceremony was held in Hong Kong to celebrate the assembly and hoisting of the F6 section of the ultra-high-strength steel pedestrian bridge. The ultra-high-strength steel, a key material for the project, was exclusively supplied by Nanjing Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.

● August 8: Ansteel Co., Ltd. delivered its high-performance hydrogen storage steel SA-537MCL.2 to the CIMC-Oman 35 MPa gaseous hydrogen storage spherical tank project, a key project under the Belt and Road Initiative, marking the first time domestically produced hydrogen storage and transportation equipment has been exported overseas.

● August 25: Jiuquan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd.'s rolling mill was included in the shortlist of qualified suppliers for Mingyang Smart Energy Group, one of the world's top ten wind turbine manufacturers and a leading global wind power company.

● September 9: The Changtai Yangtze River Bridge, the world's largest span cable-stayed bridge, opened to traffic. The 2100 MPa ultra-high-strength cable-stayed bridge wire rod developed by CITIC Pacific Special Steel Xingcheng Special Steel provided support for the bridge.

● On September 10th, the first batch of Q235NHBRE rare earth corrosion-resistant steel rolled off the production line at Jinan Steel. The initial products will be used in the bridge structure construction of the Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway.

● On September 28th, the world's highest bridge—the Huajiang Canyon Bridge in Guizhou—opened to traffic. Qingdao Special Steel supplied the bridge with a new generation of green-process ultra-high-strength cable steel.

● On December 25th, a high-torsion-resistant casing developed by China Baowu Steel Group was successfully inserted into the Fudong 105 well—an ultra-deep, ultra-high-pressure, and ultra-high-temperature exploration well in the Tarim Oilfield, Xinjiang—reaching a depth of 8500 meters, setting a new domestic record for the depth of this type of casing.

● On January 8th, the groundbreaking ceremony for Ameilonte Indonesia Co., Ltd. was held. Upon completion, it is expected to produce 200,000 tons of high-end wear-resistant balls annually.

● On September 9th, at the comprehensive strategic cooperation seminar between Hunan Iron and Steel Group and Fords River, Gus Pichot, CEO of Business Growth and Energy at Fords River, and Li Jianyu, Party Secretary and Chairman of Hunan Iron and Steel Group, exchanged commemorative cups for the cooperation in supplying 100 million tons of iron ore.

● On September 25th, Baogang Group's Sending Company signed a dust removal project for mining in Serbia. This marks the first time Baogang's green technology has entered the European market.

● On October 13th, local time in Washington, D.C., the World Steel Association announced the winners of the 16th Steellie Awards. ● On November 11th, local time in Guinea, the Simandou iron ore project, jointly developed by China Baowu Steel Group, Chinalco, and Rio Tinto, commenced production. It is currently one of the world's largest and highest-quality iron ore mines, with an annual iron ore output of 120 million tons. On December 3rd, Beijing time, the first shipment of iron ore from the Simandou project was dispatched, marking the official opening of the entire industrial chain from mine to railway to port to sea transport for this world-class iron ore mine.

● On November 12th, during the 8th China International Import Expo, China Baowu Steel Group signed multiple agreements covering intelligent equipment and resource development with several global partners from Germany, France, Japan, Mongolia, and other countries. ● On November 17th, at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) and the Responsible Steel organization jointly signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding online.

 ● On December 9th, the China-Serbia Joint Laboratory for Green Steel Manufacturing under the Belt and Road Initiative was inaugurated at HBIS (Hebei Iron & Steel Group). This laboratory is a national-level international scientific and technological cooperation innovation platform.
